Anaheim Automation Stepper Programmable Controllers are offered in two types: the economical SMC50 Series, which is ideal for simple stepper motor applications where minimal programming is required (offers an 18 instruction command set) as well as an option to have the index-on-the-fly feature. The SMC60 Series offers a more sophisticated 40 instruction command set. The latter offers both single-axis and dual-axis units, and these may also be daisy-chained for multi-axis applications. This series offers single-axis and dual-axis step motor controllers containing 2 Kbytes of nonvolatile stored programming space and quadrature encoder feedback. Available are the PCL601, which is a single-axis stepper motor controller, and the PCL602, a dual-axis stepper motor controller. Additionally, The PCL601 is available in three different versions: two of these are the PCL601XCE and PCL601MOD, both of which include RS-232 and RS-485 Communication on one board, with the only difference among the two being that the PCL601MOD implements Modbus RTU as its main communication protocol. The third version is the PCL601USB which, as the name implies, communicates through a Universal Serial Bus. Likewise, the PCL602USB implements USB for communication. The user can write a program and then have the PCL601 or PCL602 autostart the program on power up. With 40 commands, these units provide flexible, independent control of stepper motors from computers, or any machine controller with a serial port. They are also capable of standalone operation, making them embedded machine controllers. The PCL600 series devices have the ability for real time functions. This series offers economical single-axis Programmable Stepper Motor Controllers that are ideal for applications that require simple and/or flexible programming for the control of a stepper motor. Both the PCL501 and PCL511 are designed to communicate over an RS485 bi-directional serial data bus and contain 2Kbytes of nonvolatile memory. The PCL501 is capable of motion commands, branching, and looping and can be controlled using 18 easy-to-remember commands. Likewise, the PCL511 can be controlled using 18 commands; in addition, the PCL511PC offers a solution that uses RS232 for communication. The PCL511 includes the index-on-the- fly feature, whereas the PCL501 does not. Software included free and readily available online.
